    Hey

Just wondering did you try to reinstall windows on your old computer? (Or do you even have windows?) :? Well get a virus protection software, a non windows firewall. Check if your internet provider or some other company has to offer one ^^ A lot better than the windows one. and download mozzila firefox and use it instead of internet explorer :D

if you can do anything with linux, you can download a good livecd (system rescue cd is very good), get it to boot from cd (might be a trip into the bios), and run the ntfsfix program (is command line and i believe uses linux naming conventions for the partions) on the messed up file system.

ive had weird filesystem crash bluescreens that i thought was hardware that that program fixed (i was way surprised it worked)

if it works right, youll reboot and windows will run a NTFS disk check (instead of blue screen), and hopefully fixes whats wrong and get you back into your system (always worked out well for me if i could get it to that point).

if that dont work, get for new compy...

avgfree (free, updated all the time),
lavasoft adaware personal (free, updated alot),
7zip (free, for unzip and unrar and untar, etc, does everything),
    foobar2000 (free, for mp3),
vlc (free, very good for video) and
mpui (free, mplayer front end, very good video),
firefox (free, and cuz ie is the badness, defined)
openoffice.org (free, ms office compatible office suite),
gimp.org (free, good for photo editing if it isnt your career)

    and maybe try...

sunbelt kurio personal firewall (free, seems okay, trying it out...)

    oh, hihi topaz =D

sorry we missed eachother, i feel terrible about that!

If you still want to try get the old HD or hardware to me for a repair/salvage operation you're always more than welcome.

You can even drop into the workshop at work if you're really bored next you're around!
